Digital Maturity Comparison
We have explored five distinct worlds of digital maturity comparison. Each framework – ADMA, SIRI, CMMI, Lean 4.0, and DRD – was born from a different philosophy and serves a different master. For a CEO or Operations Director, the choice is not about which model is “best” in the abstract, but which tool fits the specific problem at hand. Using a hammer to tighten a screw will only damage the product; using SIRI to solve a cultural burnout problem will yield similar frustration.

Figure 1: A strategic breakdown of the top Digital Maturity Frameworks for 2026. Whether you are an SME focusing on human-centric ADMA or an MNC needing the engineering precision of SIRI, choosing the right “tool for the job” is critical. (Source: NotebookLM)
Digital Maturity Comparison Matrix: The Right Tool for the Job
1. The Strategic Visionary: ADMA
- Choose if: You are an SME in Europe, you care deeply about sustainability (ESG), or you are facing a talent crisis.
- Don’t choose if: You need a hard-core technical architecture audit or you are a US/Asian manufacturer disconnected from EU incentives.
- The Vibe: “People & Planet empowered by Tech.”
2. The Global Benchmarker: SIRI
- Choose if: You are an MNC with 20 factories and need to know which one is lagging. You need a “certified” score to show investors or government boards.
- Don’t choose if: You are a small job shop where a formal audit costs more than your IT budget.
- The Vibe: “Engineering Precision & Global Standards.” 13
3. The Process Governor: CMMI
- Choose if: Your data is a mess. You are in a high-risk industry (defense, pharma). You need to stabilize processes before automating them.
- Don’t choose if: You are an agile startup that needs to move fast and break things (initially).
- The Vibe: “Discipline, Data, & Consistency.” 24
4. The Efficient Pragmatist: Lean 4.0
- Choose if: You have low margins and need immediate cost reductions. You want to engage the shop floor workers in the digital journey.
- Don’t choose if: You are looking for a radical business model transformation (e.g., shifting to Product-as-a-Service). Lean improves the how, not necessarily the what.
- The Vibe: “Eliminate Waste, Digitally.” 34
5. The Executor: DRD (DBR77)
- Choose if: You have the money and intent to invest in robotics but are afraid of the risk. You want a turnkey path from “Idea” to “Vendor Bid.”
- Don’t choose if: You are only looking for a theoretical gap analysis without intent to purchase hardware/software soon.
- The Vibe: “Simulate, Validate, Execute.” 42
Synergies: The Power of Hybrid Approaches
The smartest companies don’t pick just one. They mix and match.
- The “Clean & Build” Strategy (Lean 4.0 + DRD): Use Lean 4.0 to optimize the process manually. Once stable, use DRD to create a Digital Twin and robotize it.
- The “Corporate & Culture” Strategy (SIRI + ADMA): Use SIRI for the technical audit of the machinery, but use ADMA to manage the change management and upskilling of the workforce.
- The “Safe Scale” Strategy (CMMI + SIRI): Use CMMI to govern the data architecture (ensuring the “plumbing” works) so that the high-tech systems measured by SIRI actually function correctly.
Table: Digital Maturity Comparison Decision Matrix
| Your Primary Challenge | Recommended Methodology | Why? |
| “I don’t know where to start.” | ADMA / SIRI | Provides a broad panoramic scan. |
| “My data is garbage.” | CMMI (DMM) | Fixes the root cause of bad decisions. |
| “I need to cut costs now.” | Lean 4.0 | Quick wins via waste elimination. |
| “I want to buy a robot safely.” | DRD | De-risks CAPEX via simulation. |
| “I need to align my global plants.” | SIRI | Standardized benchmarking. |
| “I can’t find skilled workers.” | ADMA | Focuses on human-centric augmentation. |
Final Trends for 2026
As we move deeper into the decade, these models are converging.
- AI is everywhere: All models are starting to use AI not just as a subject of assessment, but as a tool for assessment (e.g., automated maturity scoring).
- Green is non-negotiable: SIRI and CMMI are increasingly adding sustainability modules, chasing ADMA’s lead.
- Simulation is the new standard: The “static report” is dying. The future is dynamic, Digital Twin-based roadmaps like DRD.
Start your journey
Digital transformation is a journey, not a destination. It doesn’t matter where you start, as long as you start with a map. Whether you choose the human touch of ADMA, the precision of SIRI, the discipline of CMMI, the efficiency of Lean, or the action of DRD – the goal is the same: a resilient, competitive, and future-proof manufacturing business.
